Gold Service Returns
Some of you may have been wondering about the lack of posts with 60663, however there has been plenty going on behind the scenes, as you can see.
Over the past few months, we’ve been working flat out to restore her to her former Gold Service days in Manchester and Wigan. She’s been fully vinyled up now, and whist she’ll need a little bit of work externally, she’s virtually complete. It still needs little details like it’s wheel brushes, Volvo and renown badges going back on, and wright wings on the back, but they’ll be added in due course.
Gold service was a brand launched by first for its more ‘premier routes’, those usually with the most investment, highest frequency and busiest. In Wigan, Gold Service was awarded to the 540, 559, 600 & 601. With set Gold Service drivers, the aim was to provide the best and highest possible service for its passengers, and obviously allocated the best vehicles in the fleet.
The cab wall is off for vinyling, and then the cab can be refitted and then we can get her up on the ramps and sort the mechanical jobs out on her, hopefully debuting at the Manchester Transport Museums modern day event in November (which will be confirmed nearer to the time).
We’re really happy with how she’s turned out, and hope you are too!
