Update 31/08/2024
It’s been a busy day today at the buses, we’ve finally managed to get up to NWVRT to give 21116 some love. When we first got there it was completely dead, fresh set of batteries on and no joy. Rhys started by replacing knackered relays and fuses, and filling in those that was missing. It didn’t take us long to get ignition, after removing the bodged masterswitch, it was the moment of truth.
Unfortunately, after trying and trying, it coming so so close, it just wouldn’t turn over. We believe the engine isn’t getting fuel, or enough fuel, even after manually pumping fuel through and cracking off the injectors. So it’s either the fuel pump, naff old fuel or the injectors have seized. Either way, it gives us something to work on and hopefully have her running shortly.
When we got back to the yard, work started on more of 60663s seats, she’s now got a fully new back row, and the interior painting has begun to remove the horrible blue refurb she had. The ceiling has been taken down, and slowly being built back up. The cab wall has also been repainted into the correct purple.
As for 21158, we’ve started devinyling her, decided on a pet name (Thomas), as a throw back to where we bought her from. We’ve also fitted a front blind and a cab door making her look a little more like a service bus once again
